My Custom Idea is a small workshop in Hillsborough, New Jersey. Since 2020 we have been making personalized wood signs for the names that matter most. We are a proud women-owned business, and we make every order with the same care we would put into a gift for our own family.
We make couple and family name signs, signs for Dad and Papa, pet name signs for dogs, cats, rabbits and other pets, and leash holders for dog lovers.
How is every sign made?
Each sign is made to order after you personalize it. We use premium pine boards with laser-cut lettering. Only the lettering is laser cut. Everything after that is done by hand at our workshop: every board is hand sanded, hand stained in the color you choose, and every letter is set by hand.
Because we work with natural wood, the grain and stain tone vary a little from board to board, so no two signs are exactly alike.
Can I see my sign before I order?
Yes, on every sign and charcuterie board. The live preview on the product page updates as you type the names and choose your stain and lettering colors (or the engraving design on boards).
Do you make custom designs?
Yes, custom ideas are welcome. Email us what you have in mind. Extra design fees may apply, and we send you a mock-up to approve first.
Where are you, and how do you ship?
Our workshop is in Hillsborough, New Jersey. We ship within the US with ground and express options, and orders over $99 ship free. If you are within 10 miles of Hillsborough, you can choose free local pickup or local delivery at checkout.
